Bilal Sayeed Oliver, better known simply as Bilal will be in Kenya for a show at the Nairobi’s Carnivore Gardens on 16th June courtesy of Capital FM.
Bilal known for his hits, Soul Sista, Lovely, Fast Lane and Second Child from his first album 1st born 2nd will be in Nairobi under the Lounge Unplugged Concert which have previously brought other soul singers such as Hill St. Soul, Anthony David and Vivian Green.
His show will also feature Ugandan guest artists Maurice Kirya and Kenya’s own Stan.
Bilal currently has 3 studio albums, 1st born 2nd, Love for Sale and Airtight’s Revenge which he released in 2010.
Although his music, like that of previous lounge unplugged headlines, rarely receives radio play in Kenya except in the capital’s The Jam and Soul Lounge, Bilal has quite a fanbase as many are able to sample his music and buy it online.
It will thus not be a wonder to see many singing along to his songs on 16th.
Tickets to his show will go for Ksh. 2,500 advance and Ksh. 3,000 for gate tickets.
Enjoy some of the videos to my favourite hits from him as you get your ticket in readiness for the concert.
PS. It seems like Bilal, like me, is a big fan of Malcolm X; his latest album’s artwork is inspired by the legendary photo of Malcolm X peeping out window through the curtain with a rifle in hand.
