Reggae band Morgan Heritage for Kenya Concert on 3rd October

The Reggae band Morgan Heritage made up of 5 siblings will be in Kenya for a concert on 3rd October

Reggae band Morgan Heritage will be in Kenya this October for a concert at the Nyayo stadium.

Morgan Heritage is one of the most influential reggae bands today, formed by five children of famed reggae – artist Denroy Morgan. Popularly referred to as “reggae royalty”, they have produced the critically acclaimed album “Protect Us Jah” (1997), followed by “One Calling”(1998) , and the spiritually -inclined “Don’t Haffi Dread”(1999).”

The concert which will be part of Extravaganza 2015 is scheduled to be the main show from 10.00a.m. to 6.00p.m. at the Nyayo Stadium on 3rd of October, 2015. The concert has been organised by Hot 96 radio station which has a dedicated 3 hour reggae show every weekday. Hot 96 is part of the Royal Media Services array of radio station.

Reggae concerts in Kenya have had their fair share of controversy from fans getting intoxicated by more than the music and causing havoc everywhere, to dubious promoters who in the last concert collected monies from fans and failed to deliver leaving many stranded in an empty stadium while others lost their valuables as they kept waiting for Tirus Rilley & Alpha Blondy to perform in 2013.

It is however great that Hot 96 is seeking to make reggae a live experience for most of its fans and I hope they can set a new standard for reggae concerts in Kenya.
