Poem: Desire won’t drown you

Desire won’t drown you like wet kisses from a dog
It will hang you out to dry
your wet dreams will be a nightmare you walk into
eyes steaming with their arms stretched out
like a toddler

It will not hold your heart from rolling
nor hold your legs together
when all you want
is to hear the sound
of lips letting go

It will not dig you a grave
To bury your longing for whips and chains
It will stand by and urge you to dig deeper
You will love the feeling
as your lungs hold up their mouths
gasping
underneath the rubble.
