Authors Buffet grows into Creatives Academy in partnership with Daystar University

The Daystar Creatives Academy, an idea which began with the Authors Buffet, started its first class on January 18 2014 and will run till April 19, 2014. It will take place every Saturday morning at Daystar University’s Valley Road from 8 to 11 am.
The idea behind the seminar is to enable participants to make their talent and creativity, especially in writing, a career that “pays the rent.”

The class will run for 14 weeks. Each week will have established writers and publishers discuss the various aspects of writing, publishing and promoting one’s work. Facilitators who have confirmed their participation include Anthony T. Gitonga, Kinyanjui Kombani, Binyavanga Wainaina, Richard Crompton, Muthoni Likimani, Alex Nderitu, John Sibi-Okumu, Kap Kirwok, Winnie Thuku-Craig, Bonnie Kim, Ken Walibora, Julius Sigei, Stanley Gazemba, Beatrice Karanja-Nugi and Nganga Mbugua.

There will also be a session by publishing industry expert Musyoki Muli (MD Longhorn Publishers) and branding guru/anchor.poet/blogger Terryanne Chebet will give insights on how writers can brand themselves.

ELIGIBILITY:

The class is open to members of the public and Daystar students who are interested in specific sessions but do not want to take the entire class for credit. The cost of such attendance is KShs 500 per session, and KShs 1,000 per session if one wants to get a Certificate Of Attendance.
