Ghanaian Soul musician Efya will be performing at the next exclusive Tusker Malt Lager club 100.
Efya is Jane Awindor of Irene & Jane fame, a duo that has been in the Ghanaian music scene till their split to pursue separate careers in 2008. Jane now Efya is also a former participant in Stars of the Future.
“Efya is my name. It’s who I am and who I’ve always been, but I needed to be ‘Miss Jane’ in order to discover Efya. I’ve found out what kind of music I want to do now. The ‘Jane’ from ‘Irene and Jane’ is over; that time was for us to grow in the music industry, to know the right things to do. We spent three years working hard and now I can stand on stage and do a whole one hour performance by myself and it’s because I went through that training process. Efya is ‘Miss Jane’ evolved.”
Jane was born in a family of entertainers. Her mother, Adwoa Awindor, is the popular host of the program ‘Greetings from Abroad’. Jane has been singing since she was six. She attended Yaa Asantewaa Secondary School and then moved on to the University of Ghana.
